Like Father, Like Daughter: Second-Generation ATS supporter Debra Javit follows her father's footsteps

When other little girls were playing with dolls, Debra Javit was walking with her Dad through the shopping malls he developed in suburban Connecticut. "I always wanted to be like him and to be with him," Debra said.
Max Javit, who passed away in January 2019, ran a successful commercial real estate business, was committed to giving back, and was passionate about Israel. He gave to three Israeli universities including the Technion, where he and his wife, Rachel, became Technion Guardians — an honor reserved for those whose support for the university rises to the highest level.
So it came as no surprise that Debra, too, went into real estate, first on her own and then with her father. Later when the opportunity arose, she became a second-generation Technion supporter. Debra included the Technion in her estate planning, "to honor my father and carry on his legacy," she said.
Debra is focusing her philanthropy on medicine, "to make things better for the world," and security, "because Israel needs to help itself." In February 2022, she made endowments through her will to establish: The Debbie Javit Javy Fund for Medical Research and The Debbie Javit Javy Fund for Security-Related Research. "When I think about my legacy and how I want to give forward when I'm not here anymore, I think of Israel and the Technion. The Technion is doing amazing things in the world," she said. "It also deepens my connection with my father."
Please consider how your legacy can honor others and have an impact on the Technion.
